Cutting Edge Training

What is eLearning

eLearning is the newest way to learn to Scuba Dive! It is a way to augment your Learn to Dive class by doing your bookwork and exams at home on your own time and own your own schedule online, then visit us for your pool work. Like always, you can do your training dives as a referral, or join us for a lake weekend to complete your dive certification.

What is different about eLearning

Scuba Diving courses are made up of three parts - bookwork and tests, poolwork, and open water dives. eLearning allows you to do the first part, your bookwork and tests, at home on your own schedule. Atlantic Edge's normal weekend class will still allow you to study at home on your own schedule ( we send you your books ), but you would need to take your exams with us on your training weekend. With eLearning, your exams are done before your training weekend.

How Does It Work

If you want to take advantage of eLearning, click here to access Atlantic Edge's virtual classroom and register. Then, visit our online course schedule system here to sign up for your Learn to Dive weekend. Before your Learn to Dive weekend, complete your eLearning modules, and meet us at the pool for your pool work ( you will not have to attend the classroom session or tests* ). After that, you will just need to complete your training dives and you will be fully certified!

You can choose to participate in eLearning at any time, even if you have already signed up for your Learn to Dive weekend. Simply click the link to access our eLearning classroom and use it to augment your training. Even if you start out doing eLearning, if you aren't comfortable with it or don't understand parts, its no problem - on your Learn to Dive weekend join us for the whole thing, including the classroom lectures and tests, and you will still complete your course.

What Is the Cost

The cost of eLearning itself is $120. This gives you access to the eLearning materials, exams, etc. You will always have access to this, not just during your course.

The cost of the Learn to Dive weekend is $295. This $295 includes the PADI Open Water Manual and some other materials which you will need to complete your certification. It also gives you the option, though not the requirement, to attend the classroom lectures and tests on your Learn to Dive weekend, if you choose.

If you choose to do your training dives with us, the cost is $150 for the weekend of dives. If you choose to do them at a destination, the price will vary by destination and dive shop.

What If I Can't Finish The eLearning Modules

If you can't finish the eLearning modules, its no problem - when you register for your Learn to Dive weekend, just don't indicate anything about having started your eLearning. You will get a textbook & dvd, and you can attend the normal classroom sessions.

Is eLearning For Me?

eLearning offers a convenient way to learn the academic portions of the Scuba Diving course. The advantages are that you can sign up right away and get started immediately, take your tests on your own time, and have flexibility in the way you take your course. You can sign up for the eLearning component right now, and choose at a later time when to do your Learn to Dive weekend.

If you are taking class with us, the only real difference in doing eLearning is you will be able to take your exams at home. eLearning offers that convenience, but it is a more expensive way to take the class. If you do not choose to participate in eLearning, once you sign up for our course you will receive your textbook and DVD in the mail within 1-2 business days. You can study on your own time, but you will need to take the exams with us on your Learn to Dive Weekend.
