Coral Restoration Trpi Info Session

As you may have read on our web page, in 34 days we will be working in the warm waters of the Florida Keys, with Ken Nedimyer, the founder of the Coral Restoration Foundation. We will have an active role in preparing and then transplanting Staghorn corals from Ken's nursery to their new home on a living reef. The trip runs from Thursday November 5th thru Sunday November 8th, 2009.

We will be having an info session for this trip Tuesday, Oct. 6th at 6:30pm at the shop.  This will be a great time to come by and meet trip leader Dan Higgins, talk with other divers, ask any questions, and have a good time.  Come join us - we'd love to talk with you.

There is still space left for this trip, but space is limited - sign up today!

Below is the schedule for our trip, starting with the first Coral Restoration Foundation lecture!

If you have any questions, comments or just want to talk about this trip - Let's talk!!!  Email dan - dan@atlanticedge.com

Thursday, 7:00pm- Lecture 1 With Ken Nedimyer, Founder and President of the Coral Restoration Foundation (CRF). Lecture is schedule to be at the Florida Keys Dive Shop.
Having a start time of 7:00 PM gives us flexibility on flights into Florida on Thursday. You can leave the Baltimore/DC area anytime in the morning and still arrive in time for our first lecture.
Schedule

Friday, 8:00am - Dive 1, 2 - Dive the Coral Nursery (Including retrieving corals to transplant)
LUNCH
Friday, 1:00pm - Dives 3, 4 - Transplant Nursery Corals to their new site

Friday, 6:00pm - Lecture 2 with Ken Nedimyer
Friday will be a long day of diving and lectures - the majority of our restoration work will take place on Friday, using techniques we learned on Thursday night with Ken.

Saturday, 8:00am- Dives 5, 6 - Coral Reef Survey dives on previously established CRF transplant sites to document coral growth

Saturday, 2:00pm - Lecture 3 with Ken Nedimyer
Saturday's work will be vitally important to the CRF, as we will be surveying and documenting previous transplant sites to gauge the continuing success of the CRF program.

Two notes about the Saturday schedule:
1)  We will be diving Saturday morning, so you have a lot of flexibility in your flights home on Sunday
2)  All programming will be over by 4:00 or so on Saturday, so we will have Saturday evening to explore some fun in the Keys!

See you in the Keys!!!
