Chesapeake Bay Oyster and Wreck Dives!!
|
|

Starting in October, we will be moving our Ocean City Dive
Boat into the bay to offer oyster and wreck dives! We are really
excited to be able to offer this opportunity to take advantage of some
really cool local diving.
Diving for oysters is an extremely fun and interesting
dive activity. Scattered throughout the bay there are oyster beds -
basically a muddy bottom with clusters of oysters scattered around.
Generally these spots are very shallow (less than 20 feet). The
oysters in the bay are delicious, and you can't get fresher oysters than
diving for them and then eating them the same day! Each diver is
allowed to take a bushel of oysters per day, so you will have plenty to
share with your family and friends and they will be very impressed with
all the oysters you find!
We will also be offering wreck dives in the Bay.
There are over 400 known wrecks (and probably lots of unknown wrecks,
too). Many of these wrecks have never been dove, and just about
none of them are dove regularly. Many of them still have artifacts and
cargo that you can find- plates, cups, bottles, etc.
Spaces on all charters are limited- sign up today!!

Florida, a cemetery under the sea

Reporting
Off Key Biscayne, Fla. - With a spray of water, Guy Gleichmann surfaces
from a 40-foot dive during which he helped set his mother's remains in
their final resting place: a sunken city where brightly hued fish shimmy
among fantastical architecture.
"I didn't want to leave," Gleichmann says, doffing mask and
mouthpiece. "It's so beautiful down there. It's so serene." The
48-year-old investment manager and diver from Pompano Beach, Fla., wanted
a unique and accessible spot for his mother, Emma, who died in December
at age 75. So he had her cremated remains mixed into concrete in the
shape of a seashell, which was placed near the statue of a lion.
