First Coral Restoration Trip a Huge
Success!

Last week, our very first group of divers went down
to Key Largo to work with the Coral Restoration Foundation
(CRF), and we are happy to say the trip was a HUGE
SUCCESS! Everybody had a good time and the CRF folks were very
happy with our efforts.
A comment from one of our divers:
'I went to the Coral Restoration dives. What a fantastic
idea that Atlantic Edge offered. Since this trip is a
"working" dive, we really worked our butts off, and lots of
fun! Ken Nedimyer, the founder of the Coral Restoration Foundation, and
his family were very nice. I had a great time working with him. Our
trip leader, Dan, was an excellent leader. He made this trip so much
smooth and fun. In my opinion, swimming around looking for pretty fish
and coral is fun. Having the opportunity to work under water and help
restoring coral is much more rewarding. I would definitely go again. '

EFR Instructor Course May 31
|

Teach CPR and First Aid! As
an Emergency First Responder (EFR) Instructor, you will be qualified to
train and certify in CPR, First Aid and AED use.
This Atlantic Edge EFR program will provide you with the
training necessary to teach the Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR),
Emergency First Response Secondary Care (First Aid) and Care for Children
courses. Through independent study, classroom sessions and practice
teaching assignments, you will learn to conduct these courses.

Scuba Diving Internships Available
|
|
Atlantic Edge has two new Internship programs for college
students and recent graduates looking to gain experience. We have
immediate openings for two summer Marketing Interns. Summer
marketing interns will work with us to promote our scuba diving classes
and trips in a variety of different capacities. For University of
Maryland students this program has already been approved for
credit. For students of other universities we will work with you
and your university to set it up to be recognized for credit.
We also have a 12 month Instructional Internship
available. This program is designed for someone who wants to get
into scuba diving as a full time job. In this internship we will
train you as a PADI Divemaster and PADI Instructor and teach you the
inner workings of how a successful dive operation runs. You
will gain exposure to all aspects of the dive industry
including retail, training, travel, equipment repair and a dive
charter operation, to successfully prepare you for a career in any area
of the dive industry you choose.

Florida
Legislature Passes Bill to Better Protect and Restore Coral Reefs
|
|
 Tallahassee - May 1, 2009 Today the Florida legislature
unanimously passed a bill (HB1423) regarding the Florida Fish & Wildlife
Commission which included provisions to better protect and restore coral
reefs from boat groundings and anchoring in southeast Florida waters.
