Dive and BBQ Benefit July 5th
|
|

Join us on Sunday July 5th and shake off the July 4th
cobwebs with a fun day of diving at Hydes Quarry in Westminster.
We will do some diving together, then have a bbq lunch of hamburgers
and hot dogs. The whole event will be a benefit for the Coral Restoration Foundation(CRF),
one of our favorite projects. The CRF works in the Florida Keys,
where they grow corals in nurseries and transplant them to the
reef. We run http://www.atlanticedge.com/travel_coralrestoration.shtml with
the CRF where divers can experience the project.
Tickets for the event cost $25 for divers, $15 for
non-divers and include tanks & weights and a picnic lunch.
Enjoy some fun time getting to know some of the other divers in the
area and have a great day, all to benefit a great cause!

Volunteers for Sub Races
|
The International Sub Races are looking for dive
volunteers for the races coming up on June 22-26. The races are
being held at the Carderock Navy Facility. This is a cool
way to get in and see something pretty unique - races of man
powered submarines. Divers must be 18 years old, US citizens
and must have dove within the past 12 months.

Request for Donations

Montgomery
County Fire/Rescue Captain Lee Silverman, who has been instrumental in
supporting the Public Safety Session at the Training Academy and Capt.
Rick Steer are preparing to travel to Haiti to continue their mission to
develop a Water Rescue Team for the island nation. The men and women
firefighters of Haiti are extremely dedicated but have very little in the
way of resources to perform their tasks. Many people take Scuba classes
or snorkeling classes and then for any number of reasons put the
gear in their basement and never go back to using it. That gear
could potentially save lives in Haiti. If you have any snorkeling and/or
Scuba gear you can make a tax-deductible donation through the Florida
International Volunteer Corps. This agency has been instrumental in
arranging for training in numerous islands in the Caribbean and
specifically Haiti. Any individual that has gear to donate: Scuba masks,
snorkels, swim fins, weights and weight belts, BCDs, primary and
secondary regulator stages, scuba tanks, gear bags, underwater lights,
dive knives/cutting devices, or PFDs etc. should contact Captain
Silverman to arrange to have it picked up. lee.silverman@montgomerycountymd.gov

NEW!!
Super Concise, Semi-Private One Day Classes
|
|

Take your scuba course in one
day! We are excited to announce a BRAND
NEW format for our popular Learn to Scuba Dive course - a super concise,
semi-private class that only takes one day!
We know that a lot of people want to learn to dive, but
with all of our busy schedules it is difficult sometimes to dedicate a
full weekend. By keeping the class sizes very small (no
more than a 2/1 student to instructor ratio), we can offer you a very
personal class, decrease the time spent waiting for other students and
teach you the skills you need to be a safe, happy diver very
quickly!
This one day format isn't for everybody - you should be
comfortable in the water and have some basic snorkeling skills. If
you have these basic skills, learning to dive in a single day is not only
possible - it's a lot of FUN!

Tell Others About Your Experience
Diving With Us
|
|

One of the best ways for us to communicate to new divers
who have never dove with us is through what you, the divers who have
already dove with us, have to say about Atlantic Edge. We have put
together a testimonials page on our website, which enables you to tell
other divers about your experience diving with us (good or bad)!
